Celebrating the Legacy of Larry Valenza

News + Insights

After more than two decades of dedicated service, technical excellence, and unwavering commitment to quality, M+H Architects is proud to celebrate the retirement of Principal, Larry Valenza. Larry’s influence on our firm—especially within the industrial and educational sectors —has shaped who we are today and the standards we continue to uphold.

Throughout his career, Larry helped establish M+H as a trusted leader in industrial architecture. His expertise, intuition, and consistency set the foundation for how our teams approach warehouse, distribution, and cold-storage design. While he transitioned throughout his career from drafting to leading, his expectations for clarity, constructability, and precision became a benchmark inside the firm.

Larry holds others to the same high standards he holds for himself — pushing teams to refine details, think critically, and deliver their best work. His influence on our technical quality has been immeasurable, and his legacy will be present in every project that leaves our office for years to come.

One of the most significant parts if Larry’s career has been our nearly 20-year relationship with St. John Vianney High School, his Alma mater. Since 2007, M+H has completed over 17 projects with Vianney —from campus improvements to transformative facility enhancement—and Larry has been a constant throughout that story.

As both alumnus and trusted advisor, Larry brought a unique level of passion and personal pride to his work. His involvement extended far beyond project drawings; he served on the school’s leadership board and played an active role in shaping Vianney’s growth.

Beyond his professional impact, Larry is known for being genuine, straightforward, and deeply committed to helping those around him succeed. He will tell you when something isn’t up to par — and then roll up his sleeves to help you make it better. His mentorship has pushed countless young architects to grow in their craft and confidence.

Outside the office, Larry is happiest fishing, spending time outdoors, and being with his family. As he steps into retirement, he’s looking forward to more time on the water, more unhurried days, and more chances to enjoy the things he loves most.

Larry’s influence on M+H Architects can be seen in the projects we deliver, the quality we expect, and the people he has helped shape. His leadership, expertise, and character have left an indelible mark on both our firm and the community we serve.

We are grateful for his 23 years of service, and we wish him all the best as he begins this next chapter — one filled with family, fresh air, and well-deserved time to relax.

Congratulations, Larry. Thank you for everything.
