Stephanie King Passes Final Exam To Become Licensed Architect

Stephanie passesd all of her NCARB Architect Registration Exams (ARE) in 2016.  However, she was missing some AXP hours until recently.  In August, she finished up her hours and became M+H’s 10th licensed architect.

“I have always loved how the proportions, craftmanship & attention to detail of well-designed buildings never become outdated,” said King.  “As an architect, I hope to design more timeless buildings and save old buildings that already exist.”

“Stephanie has been such a great addition to our team,” said Larry Mitchell, Principal of M+H Architects. “In a little over a year with M+H she has contributed to countless projects, volunteered at many of our charity events, and found the time to become a licensed architect.”

Stephanie first started thinking about a career in architecture while in high school.  While she admits to not knowing much about the profession at the time she was captivated after her first class.  “After taking architecture classes in undergrad I knew I wanted to continue school to get my Masters of Architecture.”

When asked what advice she would give her younger self about architecture Stephanie said, “The profession is a lot more technical than what school emphasizes. Try to gain as much practical knowledge about building construction & the engineering side of architecture while in school.”

When she received notification that she passed her exams and finished her hours she immediately told her husband.  “He was a big encouragement for me to finish the exams quickly.  It was easy to set aside study time for my first 5 exams since he was always studying while in medical school.”

She was presented with an embroidered pull over to commemorate the occasion as well as the inter-office traveling T-square trophy to which she added her name.  She’ll get to keep the trophy until the next employee receives their certification!  Congrats Stephanie!
