This project is a new 38,000 SF, single story elementary school for Southern Boone County School District, in Ashland, MO. This is the first phase of a multi-phase project which includes one new building and improvements to various buildings throughout the school district. The building’s exterior was designed in the same character as an adjacent existing primary school building. A covered porch at the front entry gives the school a homey feeling. A brick exterior with standing seam gabled roofs over the main lobby and gymnasium keep the look simple, with clean lines and an uncomplicated appearance.
“Green” concepts are incorporated into several areas of the building, including a ground source heat pump system, the use of regional materials on the exterior, and high recycled content materials in the interior. The building is situated on its site to allow for future expansion.
The second phase, addition of a 10,000 SF fifth grade wing, was completed in December of 2008.
