North High School – Additions & Renovations, St. Charles, MO
M+H helped Francis Howell School District improve their North High School with an addition that accommodated a number of functions requiring more space, and created a new front door to the school. The school increased the sizes of their administrative/guidance offices, kitchen, classrooms and library. Complex planning and attention to functional and building code issues brought about the final solution. The front entrance dovetailed the style of the Library with the use of brick masonry, standing-seam roofing and a circular building profile. Parking and drainage issues were also corrected in the front of the building.

Francis Howell School District – ADA Evaluations, St. Charles, MO
The Francis Howell School District has 22 schools providing early childhood through high school educational services. Some schools have multiple buildings. In response to the American Disabilities Act (ADA), the District engaged M+H Architects to survey and report on the accessibility related deficiencies at 13 schools, in order to establish a baseline strategy for compliance with the ADA. Utilizing Federal Register Guidelines, M+H developed questionnaires that guided the evaluations in a consistent and thorough manner, allowing all facilities to be compared equally. Deficiencies were noted and prioritized according to recommended compliance strategies to show a “good faith effort” to the removal of architectural and communication barriers.
