First Baptist Church of Arnold

Classroom, Play Area, Administration & Sanctuary Renovation

The new classroom project consisted of renovation for new classrooms, lay area and administrative spaces. We planned the classrooms, play areas, support and administrative areas, and provided assistance in the selection of a design-build contractor. New mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems were provided. Several classrooms are planned as flexible spaces utilizing a folding partition system that allows for numerous configurations. The renovation was completed on time for occupancy prior to their key date.

The sanctuary project consisted of renovating the existing platform/stage and the flooring on the main floor level in the current auditorium. The existing platform/stage consisted of 1,600 SF which was just enough room for the choir. The orchestra shared space on the main floor level with the main auditorium seating. The new platform/stage area increased to 2,500 SF. This allowed the choir to increase from 75 people to 120 people, providing enough space on stage for the orchestra. The church wanted the new design to be flexible for the various performances held at the church. The design incorporated a 30” high removable wall to gain more space for multipurpose events. The entire renovation was built so that the auditorium could still be used for regular church services held on Sunday mornings and nights. The renovation was completed on time, prior to the key dedication date.
