The project is the first phase of a new school consisting of an approximate 46,000 SF two story educational building for kindergarten through fifth grades. The building’s exterior wall construction is steel stud with brick veneer and stone accents and details. The building provides for expansion capabilities for future additions consisting of expansion for sixth through eighth grades and a performance gymnasium.
Along with curricular classrooms, phase I includes a library, science lab, art and music rooms, administration offices and a gymnasium/cafeteria. This multi-purpose space includes a stage for assemblies and performances, a full service food preparation kitchen for school breakfasts and lunches, a physical education office, and multiple storage rooms for gym equipment, tables and chairs, and stage equipment. Multi-purpose gym flooring accommodates the large area’s many uses. The structural system of this portion of the building was designed as load bearing masonry for durability.
Since M+H Architects are experienced in school construction planning, their creative ideas in this area are superb, offering a variety of options from which to choose. The plans are not only comprehensive but creative, precise, and no small thing, geared to budget considerations. They're honest, forthright and work on a timely and punctual basis.
